MMUST TAMASHA 2019

The 2019 edition of the annual Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) was held at the University main campus, from Wednesday, 10th to Sunday, 14th April 2019.

The five day event was inclusive of various social activities, cultural performances and beauty pageant competitions. Cultural performances and exhibitions were held for the better part of the first two days .The first pageant event, held on Friday night, was the Mr Flex and Miss Jumbo contest .Samuel Mbeche, a fourth year student took home the crown to controversially retain the Mr. Flex title for the third year in a row. Jelagat Kosgey,a first year Disaster Management student won the hearts of many to win the Miss Jumbo category. Drusline Makokha and Anette Awuor came out as first and second runners up respectively to bring the night to an end.

The main event of the Tamasha, Mr and Miss Mmust pageant competition took place on the evening of Saturday .The large crowd in attendance was kept on their feet by great music vibes from Untamed TV Kenya’s Deejay Ray. Samuel Doe , emerged the winner of the Mr. Mmust category, despite fierce competition from Dennis Muna, who managed the second runners up spot. In the female category, Wairimu Mwangi was on the spotlight for the night, standing out in a field of twelve participants to win the main event.

The final segment of the five day event was a performance by Mejja of the Kansoul. He put up an energetic performance, engaging the crowd fully before the end of the event. SELF-CONFESSED SERIAL KILLER ACQUITTED AFTER 12 YEARS IN JAIL

Phillip Onyancha, a self confessed serial killer was today released by the High Court of Kenya after it was ruled that he was convicted albeit without sufficient evidence.

Onyancha’s case drew a lot of publicity in 2008 after he openly claimed to not only killing his victims, but also drinking their blood after murdering them.

However, in her ruling on Thursday, Justice Jessie Lesiit said the prosecution did not produce enough evidence to find the suspect guilty of the crime. 

Although he has been released, Mr. Onyancha still faces two murder cases that are pending in court.

POLICEWOMAN SUSPECTED OF MURDERING TWO MEN ON THE RUN

Law Enforcement Agencies are hunting a 34 year old Policewoman suspected to have murdered a policeman and another man in the recent weeks.

Corporal Carolyne Kangogo is on the run since the death of Constable John Ogweno whose bullet-riddled body was on Monday found inside his car at the Kasarani Police Station in Nakuru.

Detectives are looking for the female Police Officer who has gone berserk and is on a killing spree.

Sources have it that the latter used her past experiences and skills to confront and trail her victims short of public attention.

Parents to the wanted policewoman have sent public messages to their daughter, pleading with her to turn herself in as soon as possible. She is currently on the run after murdering her second victim.

JACOB ZUMA HAS BEEN ARRESTED

Former South Africa President Jacob Zuma has been arrested. He submitted himself to the police on the morning of Thursday, 8th July 2021.

He is supposed to serve a 15 month jail term for contempt of court. He is the first ever former President of South Africa to be arrested. The 79 year old who served as President from 2009 to 2018 has repeatedly denied allegations of corruption labelled against him over the years

However, Zuma, whose tenure as president was marked by scandal and mismanagement, is nevertheless a populist figure deeply beloved in some corners, particularly among Zulus in his home province, KwaZulu-Natal.

The move ended days of intense speculation over whether the police and former President would comply with the country’s Constitutional Court for Zuma’s arrest and imprisonment.
